Doug Elliott (Tex) grew up in a
family that loved to fish. He remembers many times as a child going fishing
with his Dad and Uncle. Fishing has been in his blood from that time on.
Since moving to Plano in 2000, he has focused his attention on catfish, spending
countless hours chasing and catching the big ones on Lake Lavon. He loves to
teach techniques and enjoys watching someone else catch that “fish of a
lifetime” as much as he enjoys catching them himself.
Doug also likes to better his overall
catfish techniques by entering catfish tournaments around neighboring states.
Doug fished a few of the ACATS (American Catfish Angler Tournament Series)
tournaments in 2003. He and his partner, Steven Garcia, won 2nd
place at the Lavon tournament. Fishing all the ACATS events in 2004, he and his
partner (Don Dodd), finished in 1st place at the Lake Lavon tournament weighing
in ten catfish totaling 98.54 pounds anchored with a 53.33 lb. blue catfish (can
you imagine trying to reel in a 53 lb. fish?). The second place finisher in
that tournament finished with a distant 29.01 lbs. They also placed 2nd
in the Eufaula tournament and ended the year finishing 4th overall in
the 2004 point standings.

January 30, 2005: Drifting the flats.

March 13, 2005: We loaded the boat with a
bunch of eatin' size catfish as well as some big fish. We released
all the big ones.

March 12, 2005: Mike and Sue joined me
for some great shallow water fishing. It was a bit windy, but they
held their own and caught some big fish!
Don't be fooled by the 31lb fish
on her lap!
March 6, 2005: Not has hot and heavy as I would
have liked, but we still boated and released an 11 lb fish. It was
a bit foggy, which is why the picture looks blurry.

March 5, 2005: Took Dale and Anthony
fishing today. Still not hot and heavy for the big fish yet...but
getting close. Still a good mess of eating size catfish.

March 4, 2005: I took a break from
guiding and headed up to Lake Tawakoni for the ACATS tournament.
Don and I landed 4th place.
